How long you've been in business:
11 years

Business type and description of what you do:
Eyeflow is an Internet marketing agency, focusing on organic keyword rankings and increasing a website’s traffic. Our clients come from a variety of industries and benefit from our specialized, strategic SEO plans designed for each customer based on their own goals. Whether SEO, Pay Per Click advertising, or Social Media, our targeted campaigns will generate traffic, create leads and customers, and produce a strong return on investment.

How you came up with the idea:
I went to school for video game design and 3D animation, but I wasn’t able to find a job in those fields after graduation. I ended up being a personal assistant to a CEO, making minimum wage. At the time, the company didn’t have a website set up. I offered to make one if I received a percentage of any online sales. After a few months, I was making more in commission than any of their sales team and was the highest paid employee. I realized that I could make money doing this, and soon after I started as an internet marketing consultant.

How you financed your business:
One of the great things about the industry is the low cost to get started. I kept things small and expanded as the revenue came in. There were definitely some growing pains, but I’m glad I didn’t give up partial control of the company for startup capital.

Where your business originally started:
I started Eyeflow in my parents’ basement—pretty humble beginnings! We’ve since moved the office a few times, and we’re now lucky to be in a building that we bought and renovated. Creating an office space that matches our company culture was a lot of fun.

Why you are passionate about your business:
I love that there’s always a new challenge. Each of our clients has different needs and different opportunities. You never know what you’re going to run into, and I enjoy using my base knowledge while adapting approaches to be successful in each industry.

Brief story about how your business has evolved and grown:
When I first started Eyeflow, and even in the first few years, we worked with mostly mom-and-pop shops. We spent a lot of time learning how to help the “Davids” fight the “Goliaths.” We made such an impact that the “Goliaths” started noticing us and eventually wanted us working for them instead of against them.

Your favorite thing about being an entrepreneur:
The highs and lows are great—one minute things completely change, and you really have to stay on your toes. I also love the size that we’re at right now because I can still be involved in everything. I enjoy the challenge.
