Entrepreneur Interview with Sandip Singh, Founder of Go Get Funding

Entrepreneur Interview - Sandip - Go Get Funding.comBusiness Name:
Go Get Funding

How long you’ve been in business:
Since December 2011

Business type and description of what you do:
Go Get Funding is a crowdfunding website that allows people to raise money for anything and everything. Our platform gives fundraisers all they need to help spread the word and raise as much money as possible.

How you came up with the idea:
I came up with this idea by seeing the rise of other crowdfunding sites such as Kickstarter. I wanted to create something similar, but something that would give fundraisers more flexibility.

The growth of social networks also spurred my desire to create this platform. It’s never been easier to get the word out about important causes and events, and I wanted to create a platform that would take full advantage of this.

I also loved the idea of empowering people to raise money for what really matters to them. Being involved in special fundraisers is really gratifying.

How you financed your business:
100% bootstrapped
.

Where your business originally started:
We started and remain in London, UK.

Why are you passionate about your business?
There are a ton of reasons. As touched upon earlier, I absolutely love seeing people raise money for what matters to them. It’s great watching the donations come in for worthy causes and reading positive words of encouragement from friends, family, and even strangers. Our site has made some amazing things happen and I’m proud to have been a part of it.

Another thing I love to see is when a change we’ve made to our site actually helps increase the number of donations a fundraiser receives. For example, we recently introduced a ‘Progress Tab’ into each fundraiser. This publicly tracks visitors, social media shares, and donations. After adding this to our site, we saw social shares increase by an average of 18%.

I’m passionate about continually optimizing every element of our site so that fundraisers can raise the most money possible. There’s nothing better than making a positive impact on someone’s life.

Brief story about how your business has evolved and grown:
Although we only launched in December 2011, we’ve grown by leaps and bounds. Our original funding method was all-or-nothing—if you didn’t reach your target, money was returned to backers. Because of how people were using our site, we changed that to a keep-it-all funding method.

I think it’s critical that business owners pay attention to how their products and services are being used and adapt to change. That’s the only way you’ll keep growing.

We’ve also changed and tweaked several other elements of our site. From adding the progress bar mentioned above, to allowing users to donate without registering.

Our design is also being improved based on testing. Our category pages look a hell of a lot prettier, and we’re testing out a few different font types to see what works best.

We have a ton of improvements in the pipeline and this evolution is going to continue. It’s all about the survival of the fittest!

Your favorite thing about being an entrepreneur:
Being able to make a difference. I’ve worked in large organizations before and often just felt like a cog in the machine. Being an entrepreneur enables me to make a difference to my company everyday and push it in the direction that I see fit.
