If you run a small business, sell crafts, or occasionally get rid of furniture from the garage; you are now in luck. A company named Square Up (developed by the founder of Twitter) has a solution to make it possible for just about everyone to take credit cards. Square Up is a free credit card processor that does not have monthly fees, cancellation charges, or hidden costs. Square Up is an application available on smart phones including the iPhone, iPad, and Android Operating system devices. Below is a short video explaining how Square Up works.
Once you download the application on your smartphone, you'll need to set up an account. Setting up an account takes less than five minutes. Once you are set up, you can immediately begin taking orders. Square up accepts Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express.
You have the choice of either Swiping a card (using the card reader) or keying in the card number. Swiping the card will give you a rate of 2.75% + $0.15 per transaction while keying it in will have a rate of 3.5% +$0.15. Square up will send you a free card reader to plug into your phone within 3-10 days.
The Square Up company provides a great medium for small businesses and individuals to accept credit cards. This safe and secure system will allow babysitters, photographers, instructors, and other people to accept cards with ease.
