I've written about Google Voice in the past and wanted to give an update on some of the new features that are available with the 100% free service. Google Voice is a phone service that gives you a phone number, call forwarding, typed out voicemail, and a phone system that integrates with your email.
I do all of my business via my cell phone. I have a regular local Montana phone number and I use it with my family and friends. A few years back I set up a Google Voice number which is also a local Montana phone number. The Google Voice number is forwarded directly to my Droid X smartphone. When the phone rings, it tells me that the call is to my business number which means I answer the phone, ” Good afternoon this is Pete with Think Entrepreneurship.com. How can I help you?” Instead of a simple hello. Google Voice also enables me to call others from my smartphone using the Google number.
To sign up for Google voice simply visit www.google.com/voice. Set up an account and pick out a phone number. You will be able to pick a phone number with whatever area code you'd like. Once everything is set up, you'll want to download the Google Voice App to your Smartphone. Finally, set up your voicemail and adjust your settings online.
