Flyers are a very low cost form of marketing. Whether you are starting a daycare, mowing service, or computer repair company, flyers may be a good form of getting your name out. Here are a few tips/steps in getting flyers out in your communtity.
1. Create a flyer using a computer program such as Microsoft Word, Pages, or an Adobe project.
Tip: Add tear off tabs on the bottom of the newsletter. Make sure to have your business name and phone number on each tab. You can get about 8-10 tabs on each flyer. After printing your flyer, use a scissors to cut verically up the page between each tab. This will make it easy for someone to tear off your information.
2. Decide where to print the flyers. If you are doing a lot of them, it may be more efficient to print one off at home, and then make a trip to someplace like Kinkos or Staples. Black and white copies typically run between 8-10 cents a piece. Colored copies are around 50-60 cents.
3. Distribute your flyers. If you created flyers with tearaway tabs, go to local coffee shops, libraries, grocery stores, colleges, and other places where there are bulletin boards. Take some extra tacks and tape with you to put the flyer up. Sometimes you will need to ask an employee if it is alright to put your flyer on their board. Other times, bulletin board policies will be posted right on the board.
4. You may choose to take flyers around to neighborhoods or events. You could paper clip a business card onto your flyer and put them on doorsteps or under wiper blades of a car during events.
