What’s the Key Ingredient to the Making of a Young Entrepreneur?

Whenever we ask young Treps (today’s vernacular for “young entrepreneur”) what are the most important experiences that they have had in creating their venture – parental support is the first or second thing that they mention. Imagine that – parental support made the biggest impression on these successful young people!

How important is parental support to young entrepreneurs?

For many young entrepreneurs, getting their parents’ support for a new venture can make a huge difference – emotionally, practically and even financially. One of the most unfortunate – and most common – situations that young entrepreneurs face is a family that’s not supportive – or simply doesn't know how to help. While your friendships can be replaced, however reluctantly, your family cannot. Parents or siblings who do not understand, or simply refuse to support your entrepreneurial aspirations, can often be the breaking point for many early-stage entrepreneurs.
Enter an exciting new process for young entrepreneurs and their family: TREP-ology. TREP-ology is a family process for nurturing young entrepreneurs.Trep-ology Bozeman

Here’s what makes this a unique, high impact process:

At TREP-ology successful TREPS teach and mentor future TREPS; and parents of successful TREPS work with the prospective TREPS’ parents. This is an online process made up of short, fun and actionable modules that aspiring young entrepreneurs and their families immerse themselves in – and at the end of the process they have their “big idea” and the support to turn it into a business!

Why do families participate in TREP-ology?

• Trep skills are life skills they want their children to learn – and the best way to learn life skill is by starting and running a business.
• Trep skills are innovation, creativity, financial literacy, and presentation skills which make kids successful whether their career goals include their own business or working for someone else.
• You don’t learn this is school.
• The TREP-ology process is the ultimate way to make the entrepreneurial mindset a part of their DNA.
• Without help, it is unlikely that parents would be able to teach or nurture these skills.

Why do kids participate in TREP-ology?

trep-ologyThe jobs of the future will demand that workers reinvent themselves over and over again. That requires critical thinking, lifelong learning, and a sense that workers have to invent their jobs as they do them in order to stay ahead of the curve—the entrepreneurial mindset in action. Besides all that, kids are natural entrepreneurs!
