5 Reasons to Use Guest Posting for Brand Building

Learn how writing guest posts can strengthen your online presence

As a blogger and search engine optimization writer myself, I’ve studied the ins and outs of guest blogging and the impact it has on my personal branding. I also see the positive impact it has on the client websites that I write guest posts for on occasion. Guest posting is when bloggers and digital content creators use sites like Big Guest Posting to find sites that will allow them to create content for that website.

First of all, the etiquette of writing guest posts is important to know:

  • All content should be quality
  • Articles should be 100% unique and not appear anywhere else online
  • Guest posts should suit the audience interests of the site you’re contributing too

Because I produce so much online content—everything from blog posts, guest posts, interviews, videos, and articles for my own website as well as clients’ websites, I’ve become quite the expert when it comes to writing online. And I’ve learned that oftentimes, especially for new blogs and websites, the content you offer to other high traffic blogs can impact your site’s traffic more than creating another article for your own website.

So without further ado, here are the top five reasons why I use guests posting for online brand building.

1. Align your site with high traffic articles

In essence, guest posting is like piggybacking traffic from a high ranking site over to your site. If you target and land a guest post on a site with thousands of visitors every day or month, you can ensure your guest article will be seen alongside other high traffic articles—and some of those readers from the high traffic site will click through to your site. It’s really power through association.

2. Gives you free exposure

When you write a guest post, sure, you’re writing it for free, but you have to remember that the payback is worth it if your site, brand, and article will be read by thousands of internet users. This kind of free publicity is important when establishing a new brand online.

3. Gaining strong back links

Each time that your guest article is published on a high-ranking site, it includes a link back to your website or blog with hopes that these readers will click, which many of them will. The purpose of guest posting is to take traffic from one site over to your site. The back links in your guest posts will help your website gain more visibility to searching engines and establish it as an expert site.

4. Introduce yourself to a new readership

The great thing about guest posting on an already established site is that you’re introducing your brand and articles to a whole new fan base—a targeted one that is relevant to your site and who will likely be interested in your expertise. If they are interested and happen to share or like or retweet your articles, you website and your brand will be recommended among their social networks and grow virally from there.

5. Learn from the real experts

I had so much to learn when I first started blogging—I still do—and I take cues from the established experts in my industry whenever I submit a guest post. For me, writing guest posts offers the perfect opportunity to connect and collaborate with those who are already successful in my industry.
